Please try your search again later. All, I feel confident I can get some good responses from the membership here, so I have a few questions I could use some help with. Ive been researching both the a68 and a77ii. Both cameras fit in my budget, but if I select the a68 I will have more to spend on additional lens.

I have zero Sony gear now, currently with Nikon My primary goal is shooting people, mostly portraits. Of greater desire is the focus modes and quality that the a77ii has, and I am wondering if the a68 duplicates that performance and features. If the 68 can rub shoulders with the 77 in the focus features and performance department I would be smart to settle on that and use the extra money on additional glass. Yes, I know I really do have a tight budget so please dont suggest upgrades in camera bodies.

These two cameras are my primary interest. The A I would possibly entertain that camera but have no hands on experience with ANY of these cameras. Also please advise the 68 and 77 have high speed sync or whatever the mode may be called for Sony. AFAIK the 68 and 77 both have focus peaking, very desirable. Anything else I may be missing, Id welcome your feedback!

I am frustrated with myagn Been looking to upgrade to the D for deeper buffer and HSS.

Any Sony people left on the forum? Hello, Andrew. I've been all over the board with cameras over the past seven years or so, and I hope some of this helps. AF tracking was perhaps a push. I upgraded to an A77ii shorty after when I caught a great refurbished deal online.

I used this body for for spring training baseball, some college football from the stands and for wildlife. It was a very good camera for me, but I never felt the upgrade was a giant improvement.

My focus tracking was was slightly better than its predecessor, IQ slightly cleaner at middle ISO range. I now have an a99ii and it is a great body, but physically it is incredibly similar to the a77ii. The a77ii gives you more FPS and a metal mount vs the plastic of the aQuick Links.

What really would be difficult for me is manually focusing every shot. I have to manually focus when I do video, and it can really be a struggle. Over the years, autofocus has gotten better and better. Recently, Sony has made some big leaps in the autofocus world with the Sony A9 and now the Sony A7iii. Sony has several autofocus settings to choose from, so it can be kind of confusing on what each does and when to use each mode.

Before we get into all the Sony autofocus settings, I want to warn you that there some things that can cause problems. The first thing to consider is your Sony camera. Not all cameras are created equal. Some cameras will be missing some of these features and modes and some just work better than others. Second, not all lenses are created equal. I now own the Sony 50mm 1. The Sony is pretty horrible with focusing, the Rokinon is good, and the Zeiss is the best. Sony 50mm 1.

Rokinon 50mm 1. On KEH Camera, you can find lighly used camera equipment at excellent prices! They also have really good financing options for the expensive stuff! The first choice to make is how the camera is going to focus.

This option can be a little hard to find. When you start to turn the focus, the focus assist automatically kicks in, making the image zoom in so you can make sure you are in focus.

Direct Manual Focus is an interesting focus mode. I could see this being useful for product photography or landscapes, but if you have that kind of time to adjust things, you could always just do it all manually from the beginning. So this mode kind of solves the issue I mentioned earlier about the camera not allowing you to manually focus while in another mode.Like its predecessor, this model appeals to a wide range of users, including enthusiasts and professionals.

The fixed semi-silvered translucent mirror permits blazing-fast captures up to 12 fps, while retaining live view using an 2. DxOMark scores range from an impressive 31 points for the Sigma 35mm f1. Five of the 20 tested models were in the wide-angle category, ranging from 16mm through to 28mm, the equivalent to 24 to 40mm or thereabouts on the Sony A77 II.

Anything higher than 28mm falls into our standard category, but some still consider 40mm borderline. Four of the 20 prime models tested fall into the standard category mm equivalentwith the hugely popular Art series Sigma 35mm f1.

With a smaller image circle and lighter-weight build, the two DT models are competitively priced as well as big on performance, particularly the DT 35mm f1. However, the Sony DT 35mm 1.

DxOMark scores range from a high of 30 points for the dual-branded 85mm f1. In fact, after the Sigma 35mm f1. With an image circle designed to cover smaller APS-C sensors, Tamron has recreated its highly-regarded full-frame 90mm f2. It is a true macro, with a magnification ratio, high optical performance, and good sharpness levels throughout the aperture range.

Still, the Tamron has much higher chromatic aberration than the Sony model. Cropped-sensor cameras lend themselves well to zoom lenses, going some ways to offset the dearth of short-focal-length primes designed specifically with a smaller image circle, while favoring longer focal lengths. Our lab technicians have currently tested and analyzed the results from 28 zoom models on the Sony A77 IIcovering an ultra-wide 8mm through mm, the equivalent to 12mm to mm on the cropped APS-C-format sensor of the Sony A77 II.

All three of the best-performing standard zooms offer a similar focal range, but zooms made for cropped sensors offer better value than full-frame models, hence the huge difference in pricing.

Fortunately Sony offers a smaller, lighter and cheaper alternative in the Sony DT mm f2. It offers a similar focal range, but it is not nearly so good as the Sony wide-open. Stopped down a little, however, like most lenses it performs well, with good sharpness and low levels of chromatic aberration. Six of the 28 models fall in the telephoto-zoom category, and of those, five are full-frame.

The Sony DT mm f Sony has also slightly updated the mm f2. With only minor updates and no difference to the optical configuration, that too should perform similarly on the Sony A77 II. Like most mm models, it performs really well at the short focal lengths but starts to struggle at mm. Read more about our Comment Policy.

Lift the mirror with your fingers and do what you would with any sensor depending on the problem Lift the mirror by the mirror frame.

Do not touch the film part of the translucent mirror. When cleaning the sensor, be very careful to not touch the backside of the mirror. You won't find a 'how to' guide to sensor cleaning in the user manual, only how to put the camera into 'cleaning mode' so that it can be cleaned.

Do you have both wet and dry cleaning equipment in addition to a loupe or any equipment at all and have you done this before?

If not, then you need to get the correct items as often any ingress can be sticky, and a blower won't be sufficient, though if using a blower, consider where any dust goes. You need a loupe to inspect the sensor for cleanliness an to ensure you've not simply moved any ingress to another area or made things even worse, and if anyone says to the contrary, then they're wrong.

If you've never cleaned a sensor before, be mindful that it's not a simple case of putting the camera into cleaning mode and squirting a few puffs of air in. I haven't tried this but I think that's the best chance of not messing it up. I have used a q-tip wet with alcohol to clean my old A35's mirror, and it seems fine but I could see the plastic wrinkling under even the light pressure of the q-tip.
